08/04/2010Dementia Strategy Development Workshop is no April Fools joke!

On 1 April, Avante Care and Support's Directors, managers and senior operational staff spent an important day together under the guidance and leadership of two of the country's leading dementia experts to begin the development of our 3 year dementia strategy.

Maria Parsons, a dementia consultant set out a demanding agenda of discussions and analysis aimed at engaging delegates in thinking about the future development of services, staffing, practice development and training to ensure that we deliver on our commitment 'to become nationally recognised as experts in the support of people with dementia'.

Karen Harrison Dening, Consultant Admiral Nurse, opened the workshop with a presentation on the National Dementia Strategy and Maria Parsons followed with an overview of the work she has undertaken so far to support the organisation to develop its strategy.  The rest of the day was taken up with discussions and feedback on every aspect of Avante Care and Support's service delivery to people with dementia and the future directions we'll be taking in the coming three years.

Avante Care and Support cares for and supports over 1000 people with dementia.
